Prevention of Moisture-Related Flooring Failures

Join us as we discuss strategies for the prevention of moisture-related flooring failures, which are a significant cause of construction delays. This program reviews the magnitude of the problem, discusses the various causes, offers permanent solutions, and touches on current American Concrete Institute (ACI) recommendations.

Course Objectives:

• Understand how to guarantee on-schedule flooring installation and avoid related construction delays
• Develop strategies to transform traditionally unpredictable project activities, such as flooring installation and subsequent flooring performance into controlled and known aspects
• Review the scope and magnitude of moisture-related flooring failures
• Identify the LEED implications and potential points related to this topic
• Discuss strategies that address all moisture sources related to concrete, including:
  • Topical and admixture remedies to both new and existing concrete floor substrates
  • The role of vapor barriers and vapor retarders
• Review the difference between concrete curing, hydration and drying
